Fugitive Since 2015, Corruption Convict Yefer Maksimidel Arrested By NTT Prosecutor's Office While Fleeing To Belu

MATARAM - The Team to arrest fugitives (tabur) at the East Nusa Tenggara Province High Prosecutor's Office arrested Yefer Maksimidel Laitabun, a convict in a corruption case who has been a fugitive since 2015.

"The NTT High Prosecutor's Office team has arrested one person who is included in the Kupang District Attorney's wanted list," said the Head of the Legal Information and Public Relations Section for the NTT High Prosecutor's Office, Abdul Hakim in Kupang, Antara, Tuesday, March 21.

The convict Yefer Maksimidel Laitabun was arrested by the High Prosecutor's Office in the Kupang Tengah District, Kupang Regency, on Monday at 19.00 WITA when the convict was about to flee to the Belu Regency area.

Based on the Decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia Number 613K/Pid.Sus/2015 dated 25 April 2015 sentenced the convict Yefer Maksimadel Laitabun to imprisonment for four years and a fine of Rp.

According to Abdul Hakim, if the convict does not pay the replacement money, then all of his assets will be confiscated to cover the replacement money.

"If the convict does not have sufficient property to cover the replacement money, he will be replaced with a prison sentence of one year," said Abdul Hakim.

The convict Yefer Maksimidel Laitabun was found guilty in the corruption case for depositing funds collected from loan deposits in Uitiuhtuan Village, Kupang Regency in violation of Article 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 which was amended by RI Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Corruption Crimes.

Abdul Hakim said the convict, Yefer Maksimadel Laitabun, was released by law on 15 May 2015 before the Public Prosecutor at the Kupang District Attorney's Office received a detention order from the Indonesian Supreme Court.

He said that during the legal process, the convicted person Yefer Maksimadel Laitabun was out of detention and after the Supreme Court's decision was made he was still out of detention.

"When the executing attorney was about to carry out the execution, the convict fled and was named on the wanted list," said Abdul Hakim.
