BPBD Asks Cianjur Residents To Recognize Natural Disaster Signs To Anticipate Victims

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has asked residents throughout the Cianjur area to understand natural signs of a flood, landslide and ground movement.

Head of BPBD Cianjur Regency, Dindin, said that since the last two weeks there have been 6 reports of floods and landslides. Including landslides in Sukaresmi District.

"Information from the BMKG, rainfall is still high until the end of March, so residents in a number of areas are asked to remain alert and vigilant because it can trigger natural disasters of floods, landslides and ground movement," he said, Sunday, March 19, confiscated by Antara.

Dindin explained that most of the Cianjur area was included in the red zone of the second highest natural disaster in West Java, so that his party alerted all disaster-resilient volunteers to carry out surveillance and immediately report when they saw natural signs of a disaster.

Even in the southern coast of Cianjur, his party coordinates with the TNI/Polri to urge residents, especially fishermen and tourists, not to play with water on the beach because high waves are still hitting the area.

"We have prepared all volunteers, including coordinating with local officials, to urge residents to reduce their activities when it rains heavily or evacuate immediately if the intensity of rain is more than two hours, especially residents who live on the banks of the river," he said.

His party noted that during the last two weeks, six natural disasters had been handled by his party, such as floods that hit Cilaku District, Cugenang District and several sub-districts in the southern region.

Meanwhile, landslides and ground movement occurred in Sukaresmi District, there were no casualties in the incident, but dozens of families who were reported to have fled had returned to their respective homes since Friday, March 17.
