The Risk Of Public Officials, Sri Mulyani And Tax Staff Admit To Being Bound By Law

JAKARTA Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani admits that she and all levels in the Ministry of Finance, including taxes, are elements of the bureaucracy that are required to serve the community in order to achieve prosperity.

According to him, on that basis, every action and decision taken must be based on the public interest.

This is a mandate that has been regulated by law in Indonesia.

"This is a public institution. After all, we are bound by law, so we can't do it alone," he said in a discussion in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 28.

The Minister of Finance's statement was conveyed regarding the problems that befell his subordinates at the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) on behalf of Rafael Alun Trisambodo alias RAT.

According to him, the case that started with the persecution carried out by RAT children became a snowball that moved wildly in all directions.

"We have to accept the social media era. This is a reality for us public officials that we have to manage," he said.

Therefore, the Minister of Finance encourages the problem-solving mechanism to be carried out by the Inspectorate General (Itjen) as proof of the running of the system within the ministry.

"We have told Itjen, convey it to the public, which has been in the process of controlling and investigating so far," he said.
