Central KPU Highlights Troubled Selection Team Members In South Sulawesi

MAKASSAR - The Central General Election Commission (KPU) immediately followed up on input and public response regarding the problem of a Selection Team (Timsel) Haedar Djidar who passed from South Sulawesi (Sulsel) but was found guilty by the Election Organizer Ethics Council or DKPP.

"In South Sulawesi, there is one name, and we are clarifying this again for us to make policies and decisions," said the Coordinator of the Human Resources and Research and Development Division of the Indonesian KPU, Parsadaan Harahap, quoted by ANTARA, Monday 27 February.

According to him, his party had announced the names of the Selection Team for the recruitment process for district-city KPU commissioners in 15 provinces including 11 regions in South Sulawesi. In fact, the KPU has so far opened the stages for public response regarding Selection Team from 25 February to 2 March 2023.

"This is to get input from the public test, knowing that things are private. For example, being a member of a political party is not permissible. There is an ethical problem. We publish it so that there is a public response," he explained.

He emphasized that in principle this public examination was carried out to clarify anything related to their background and the extent of the integrity of Selection Team members so that they would not become legal problems when they worked.

"Later we invite clarification (Haedar Djidar) and invite the debriefing process. We will also provide community responses until March 2," he said.

Parsadaan said, not only in South Sulawesi, but there are several other areas that also have diverse community responses. For this reason, the verification team is still being verified to ensure that, including validation, the information is correct. Because, if that is not true, a decision cannot be made because it is detrimental to his person.

"If there (Sulsel) the community's response has entered. That's why, we clarify the data, and enter the community. We must pay attention to it so that then produce the best Selection Team," he said.

Regarding the process of recruiting Selection Team members, he said, there are several channels and various kinds of networks owned by the KPU and the parties. There are three requirements from academics, professionals, and community leaders. These three elements are checked down and verified whether they meet the requirements or not.

"However, when the public test still found information regarding Selection Team which might have problems, the DKPP had made a decision, it had been wise, it was not good, then that's what we got, we will consider later (it can be annulled)," he added.

Previously, civil society organizations FIK NGOs in South Sulawesi questioned the results of the recruitment of the Selection Team which passed the former chairman of the Election Commission for Palopo City, Haidar Djindar, who was noted to have been fired by the DKPP for committing serious violations in the 2018 Pilkada.

However, in KPU Decree number 4 of 2023 in articles 7-8 regarding conditions, it does not stipulate whether Selection Team has ever been sentenced by the DKPP.
