Semarang City, Jajaki Cooperation With Fuzhou City, China

JAKARTA - The Semarang City Government received a visit from the Fuzhou City Government Representative, China, to explore cooperation in various fields of government between the two cities for mutual progress.

Representatives from Fuzhou, including Fuzhou Deputy Mayor Huang Jian Xiong, Fuzhou Foreign Office Director Wu Xiao moment, Secretary General of the Foreign Friendship Association Han Zhu Mei, and Chen Yao translator.

"The Semarang City Government received guests from the Fuzhou City Government, the People's Republic of China," said Semarang City Secretary Iswar Aminuddin in a statement received in Semarang, Sunday.

Iswar explained that the relationship between Semarang City and China has been closely established since ancient times.

Evidently from history, Admiral Cheng Ho from the Ming Dynasty has set foot in Semarang which is currently being preserved with the Cheng Ho Festival which is held every year.

With Fuzhou, he said, Iswar said that the Semarang City Government had signed a "peter of intent (LoI) regarding the cooperation of "Sister City" (Sister City) in 2004 which continued in 2016.

Last year, he said. another assessment was carried out with the signing of LoI, which this year will be continued by MoU ("Memorandum of Understanding") by "desk to desk" between Semarang City Government and Fuzhou.

The Fuzhou delegation returned to Semarang in 2023, he continued, proving their seriousness in exploring opportunities for future cooperation with the Semarang City Government.

The Investment and One Stop Integrated Service (DPM PTSP) plans to hold a Semarang Business Forum (Sembiz) in Fuzhou to attract investors to come to Semarang City.

Iswar said that the Fuzhou City Government's visit to Semarang gave much hope for the progress of the two transnational cities in all fields, including the economy and government.

"Hopefully, hopefully these two cities can exchange experiences and programs. Of course, our strengths or they can be combined so that we are not left behind with other cities in Asia or in Indonesia," he concluded.
