Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief Kompol Patar Mula Bona confirmed the arrests of thugs in the Tanah Abang Market area.

"There were 10 thugs suspected of being involved in extortion who were arrested. The joint raid was led by the Head of Ops for the Central Jakarta Police and the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Police," said Kompol Bona to VOI, Thursday, February 23.

From the results of the examination of the perpetrators, they often commit extortion to car drivers.

"Yes, they usually ask for extortion in the area," he said.

Previously, it was reported that a video recording was recorded by an amateur camera and went viral on social media regarding allegations of illegal levies (Pungli) in the Tanah Abang Market area, Central Jakarta. Residents hope that the Police will eradicate thuggery in the area.

The video footage shows a number of men queuing for something from a car driver passing through the area.
