Improved Economy, Menaker Please 2023 No More There Is A Worker Wage Subsidy
YOGYAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah hopes that the economic conditions of the workers will continue to recover so that by 2023 there will be no need for wage subsidy assistance (BSU) policies from the government. "Hopefully this year there is nothing that makes the government have to issue subsidies because the income of friends (workers) is not reduced," said Ida, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 22. Ida said BSU for workers who were given in 2020 and 2021 using the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN) budget to overcome the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy of the workers. in 2022, according to her, BSU's policy was resumed to help workers who at that time faced the impact of fuel price adjustment. Ida, who was reluctant to mention the policy was removed in 2023, said that if workers' income had experienced post-pandemic recovery, then of course this year there would be no need for subsidies. "We hope that the conditions are normal, friends have incomes with that income can meet the needs of their families. Well, if it is like that, there is no need for subsidies," he said. Although this year there is expected to be global recession challenges, he is optimistic that the condition of the Indonesian economy is still safe and inflation is still under control.
That belief, according to him, was also strengthened by the predictions of a number of financial institutions, including the World Bank which said that the Indonesian economy had decreased but could still grow positively. "Although Indonesia's economic growth is predicted to decline, it is still very good compared to other countries. Initially, it was predicted that it would grow 5.3 percent and then be corrected lower than that, but still grow positively, and inflation is still under control," he said.
