MPR Highlights The Cause Of The Jambi Police-Owned Helicopter Accident

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Sjarifuddin Hasan, asked the search and rescue team (SAR) to prioritize the safety of victims of the helicopter accident belonging to the Jambi Police. In addition, the team must find the cause of the accident.

"It must be done as soon as possible because we are chasing it with time. Hopefully the victims are strong and can be found by the SAR team in a safe condition," said Syarief Hasan as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 20.

He asked that evacuation efforts to save the victims must be carried out immediately to help five passengers, including the Jambi Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Rusdi Hartono and the three crew of the helicopter.

"May Allah SWT make it easier for the SAR team to find and provide assistance. Likewise the victims, hopefully given strength and health, strong as before," he added.

Syarief assessed that the rescue efforts made since the news of the accident circulated seemed slow. The accident is thought to have occurred on Sunday 19 February at around 10.30 WIB and evacuation efforts were only carried out in the afternoon by air, which had to be stopped due to weather reasons.

However, he understands because the rescue process must be well prepared. Moreover, at the same time, the weather at the scene of the accident was in a bad situation.

After the evacuation and rescue efforts were completed, Syarief said related parties must find the cause of the accident, study, and find solutions so that similar incidents do not happen again.

"After all, aircraft maintenance, both Polri and TNI, must be carried out continuously. It is important to know the feasibility of flying and avoid accidents," he said.

The police's Super Bell 3001 helicopter accident occurred when the helicopter departed from Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Airport (STS) Jambi at 9.30 WIB to Depati Parbo Airport, Kerinci, Jambi.

Supposedly, the helicopter flew for 75 minutes to arrive at its destination at 10.45 WIB. However, before arriving at the destination, at around 10.30 WIB suddenly the helicopter reportedly landed an emergency.

Andri Ananta Yudhistira, Director of Police of the Jambi Regional Police Kombes Pol. Michael Mumbunan, Koorspripim Kompol Dafi, and ADC Brigadier Muhardi Aditya.
