Arriving In Turkey, The Indonesian EMT Team Immediately Built A 2.5-hectare Field Hospital In The Earthquake-affected Location

JAKARTA - The Indonesian humanitarian aid team immediately built a field hospital in the location affected by the earthquake, along with the arrival of the second wave of aid from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, Monday.

The second wave of humanitarian assistance arrived at Sakirpasa Airport, Adana, Monday night, at around 21.00 local time, was greeted by the Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Lalu Muhamad Iqbal and the AFAD Humanitarian Assistance Coordinator Ambassador Mehmet Gulluoglu.

This aid group brought the EMT team (Emergency Medical Team), field hospitals and humanitarian logistical assistance weighing almost 40 tons.

"Welcome my brother to Turkey. Thank you for your very sincere expression of solidarity. I am very touched by your presence when we need it," said Ambassador Mehmet in a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, Tuesday, February 14.

The team is coordinated by BNPB, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health consists of various health and supporting elements, including from the TNI, Polri and non-governmental elements, with the largest components MDMC (Muhammadiyah DisasI), NU, specialist doctors associations and others.

As soon as he arrived in Adana, the team that is part of the Emergency Medical Team (EMT), carried out aclimatization and received an entry briefing from the Indonesian Ambassador regarding the latest situation in the field, as well as a strategy to enter the humanitarian operations area.

After the briefing, the team went straight to the location to start building a 2.5-hectare field hospital (25.000 m2) which will be operated by nearly a hundred medical personnel and paramedics.

The field hospital will be built near a village in Hassa City, Hatay so that it can directly help victims around Hassa City and from other untreated cities.

It is known that until now two waves of Indonesian humanitarian aid have arrived in Turkey, with the last wave planned to arrive in Turkey on February 18.
