Marriage Rate Below 19 Years In Banyumas Tinggi, Regent: This Month There Are 20 INCreASes In Pelaminan

Banyumas Regent Achmad Husein admitted that he was sad because the number of early marriages in the area he led was relatively high. Mainly in the working area of the Purwokerto Religious Court.

"Until this month alone, there have been 20 (early wedding partners). Initially, Achmad admitted that he was surprised when he received information that early marriage in Banyumas was relatively high and this was done by children under the age of 19, some even aged 14 years.

"This phenomenon will be discussed later and how to prevent it," said the Regent.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Purwokerto Religious Court, Arinal, said that the children who applied for dispensation for early marriage in the Purwokerto Religious Court area were still in high school and some were still in junior high school. According to him, the average early marriage was carried out because the woman was pregnant before marriage.

"It's because of promiscuity, (introduced) through social media, maybe try (to have sex). Finally, parents who know about it marry them instead of getting pregnant first, but many are pregnant," he explained.

He further said that the number of early marriages handled by the Purwokerto Religious Court in 2022 was around 300 cases. Meanwhile, for the divorce rate, he said, from January to February 2023 there were almost 300 cases. "In 2022, the divorce rate is 3,000, more than 3,000," he said.
