Explain 3 Important Layers Of Telecommunications In Indonesia, Menkomifo Calls Jokowi Wants Digital Infrastructure
JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate said the government under the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continues to build and strengthen digital infrastructure in the outermost, leading, and underdeveloped (3T) areas.
"The presence of President Joko Widodo is to connect those who are not yet connected in the national area," he said in a meeting with Committee I of the DPR with Kominfo at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, February 6, which was confiscated by Antara.
The Minister of Communication and Information emphasized that President Jokowi wants the development of distributed growth centers evenly throughout the country.
"Not only concentrated in commercial areas, but also opening up new areas," he said.
Currently, he continued, the government is focused on equalizing the development of digital infrastructure. Thus, development is not only in the existing center of sexual intercourse, but building a new growth center. The area is mostly in the 3T area.
"The development of digital infrastructure is more evenly distributed," he said.
He added that digital infrastructure can not only be seen in the form of results such as signals. "Not immediately there is a signal in an area. There is a network that is interconnected," he added.
3 Important Layers of Telecommunications in Indonesia
The Minister of Communication and Information said, there are three important layers of telecommunication greeting in Indonesia.
The first layer is broadband or fiber optics. He admitted that the installation of telecommunications network fiber optics was not easy both on land and at sea.
In fact, he continued, many fiber optics were broken at the seabed due to underwater activities such as landslides and volcanic eruptions.
"Indonesia is a country with a fairly long fiber optic network of about 460,000 kilometers long, both on land and at sea," he said.
The second layer, he said, for areas where fiber optics cannot be built, there is an alternative by building radio telecommunications to support broadband and satellite services.
The Minister of Communication and Information said that Komimfo built two satellites to support the service. According to him, Kominfo predicts the fastest satellite launches in mid-2023.
Furthermore, the last layer is Base Transceiver Station (BTS). So far, he said, BTS has only been built in commercial areas. However, Kominfo continues to build in the 3T area.
