Dear Pontianak Residents, Jalan Gajah Mada Closed There Are Naga And Barongsai Attractions

KALIBAR - Access Jalan Gajah Mada in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan), is temporarily closed to dragon carnivals and lion dances in the context of the peak of the Cap Go Meh celebration, Sunday, February 5.

Observations in the community field are very enthusiastic about crowding around activities to witness dragon attractions and lion dances. The community was also seen capturing the moment with a cellphone camera.

The invited guests who were present included the Mayor of Pontianak, Edi Rusdi Kamtono, the Chair of the Pontianak City DPRD, Satarudin, and other invited guests. Meanwhile, guests who are still waiting for their presence are the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir and the Governor of West Kalimantan Sutarmidji.

The Mayor of Pontianak, Edi Rusdi Kamtono, invited the entire community and visitors who witnessed the attraction of the dragon and lion dance to maintain security and cleanliness during the activity.

He admitted that this year various large activities including Cap Go Meh have started to revive, and this is highly anticipated by the public.

"The community is very enthusiastic, because in recent years a number of activities including Cap Go Meh have been hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Pantai Cap Go Meh Hendry Pangestu Lim explained, the dragon carnival and lion dance which was held today is the culmination of the Cap Go Meh Festival in Pontianak City.

The stars that appeared at this carnival amounted to 26 dragons. The routes that are passed start from Jalan Gajah Mada to Jalan Budi Karya.

"The first session starts at 12.30 WIB, then for the second session of the Bersinar Dragon parade at night starts at 19.30 WIB," he said.

Hendry said the series of events would be closed with dragon burning at the Bhakti Suci Sungai Raya Foundation the next day.

"After being burned, all the Cap Go Meh Festival events will be completed this year," he said.
