This Year, Ford Targets Production Of 270 Thousand Mach-E Mustangs
JAKARTA - Ford Motor is targeting the number of sport utility vehicle (SUV) production with 270 thousand units of Mustang Mach-E electricity throughout 2023.
As reported by Reuters on Saturday, February 4, quoted by Antara, the target could be achieved after Ford increased Mach-E production at a Mexican plant to 130,000 by 2023, from 78,000 cars by 2022, and added 140,000 units from their production lines in China.
To speed up the absorption of the car production, Ford will increase sales by cutting the price of the Mustang Mach-E by US$ 5,900 (Rp88.4 million) per car in order to compete with Tesla.
Previously, Tesla had lowered the selling price of Model Y's new car from US$65,990 (Rp99.2 million), to US$52,990 (Rp 802.4 million).
"Ford has just reduced the price of the Mustang EV in response to Tesla's price cuts," said Dan Ives, automotive analyst at Wedbush Securities.
"This move will make at least one additional version of Mach-E meet the requirements again for $7,500 in tax breaks, but Ford EVs must set a retail price of no more than $55,000," he said.
Mustang Mach-E is a sports-designed electric car that is a competitor to Jaguar I-Pace, Audi e-tron, and Tesla Model Y.
