Garut Regency Government (Pemkab) reported as many as 495 houses damaged by the 4.3 magnitude Sesar Garsela earthquake in Samarang and Pasirwangi Subdistrict, Garut, Wednesday evening February 1. He said, Garut Regency Government has deployed a team to handle the disaster victims and record the amount of damage caused by the earthquake shocks of Sesar Garsela's activity in Garut, last night.Reports in the field, Helmi explained, there were 495 houses and eight damaged school buildings, however, all of which would be re-valid for further decision on reconstruction preparations. "Today we are doing validation, later we will find out what amount of loss, we will reconstruct how much, we will reconstruct the budget. Today if it is not sufficient, a maximum of Monday 6 February there are already results, including what we have to do," he said. He conveyed that the earthquake disaster only caused material losses, while no casualties were reported. Regarding any residents who were reported to have suffered injuries, according to him, it turned out that there was a panic when an earthquake occurred. "There was no victim, there was panicked and then ran, shocked and its legs were broken," he said. He said that residents affected by the earthquake were recorded as many as 1,531 people or 450 families scattered in two sub-districts that currently have received treatment by the government. Previously, based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) there had been a tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 which was centered on the ground at a distance of 19 km southwest Garut Regency at a depth of 3 km, Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 22.57.21 WIB.
