The Attorney General's Office Deposits IDR 1.449 Trillion of Jiwasraya Assets to the State Treasury
JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office for Asset Recovery Center (PPA Kejagung) deposited IDR 1.449 trillion in proceeds from the settlement of state confiscation in the corruption case and PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) money laundering crime to the state treasury.
"The Indonesian Attorney General's Office has succeeded in completing the state confiscation of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya and then depositing the results of the settlement to the state treasury with a value of IDR 1,449,024,768,744", said the Asset Recovery Center Head of the Attorney General's Office Syaifudin Tagamal in a written statement reported by ANTARA on Thursday, February 2.
Syaifudin said that since September 2021, his party has been recovering stolen assets in the Jiwasraya case. Then, depositing IDR 1.449 trillion into the state treasury through the Ministry of Finance's Directorate General of State Assets was carried out symbolically on Wednesday, February 2.
During the period from September 2021 to January 2023, the Attorney General's Office PPA recovered IDR 3.11 trillion in assets seized by the state in the Jiwasraya case.
The recovery of these assets, he said, comes from loot, auction sales, direct sales, securities sales, disbursement of mutual funds, and determination of usage status.
"This illustrates that the law enforcement process is not only oriented towards law enforcement against criminals, but also in the context of efforts to recover assets", he said.
When compared to the value of state losses in the Jiwasraya mega-corruption case of IDR 16.807 trillion, the value of asset recovery carried out by the Attorney General's Office is still low.
Syaifudin said that there were still a lot of spoils from the state from the Jiwasraya case that needed to be resolved. This is his commitment to continue to complete it to optimize Non-Tax State Revenue (PBNP).

According to him, asset rescue and recovery should be carried out early in every stage of the law enforcement process.
"The stages of handling cases of investigation, investigation, prosecution, legal action and execution, if carried out in line with the stages of asset recovery starting from tracing, securing, maintaining, confiscating and returning, should result in quality law enforcement and case handling", said Syaifudin.
Deputy Attorney General for Development, Bambang Sugeng Rukmono added, asking for support from the Director General of State Assets of the Ministry of Finance in the form of regulations and other efforts in the framework of settling state-confiscated assets and execution of confiscated assets that encountered obstacles in the field, such as land burdened with mortgage rights.
The regulation is intended so that it is possible for the Attorney General's Office as the executor and manager of state confiscation to carry out the distribution of auction proceeds, and management of assets seized from execution other than auctions.
"As long as the value does not exceed the obligation to pay compensation, the Appraisal Standard for state booty adjusts the condition of state booty as well as regulations and other measures", said Bambang.
