The West Nusa Tenggara High Prosecutor's Office handled a case of alleged corruption in an iron sand mining activity in East Lombok Regency.
Spokesperson for the NTB Prosecutor's Office, Efrien Saputera, in Mataram, Thursday, said that the handling of the case is now under investigation.
"The handling of this case is under investigation in accordance with an order from the Head of the NTB Prosecutor's Office on January 18, 2023," said Efrien as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 2.
The follow-up to the issuance of the investigation warrant (sprindik) number: Print-01/N.2/Fd.1/01/2023, explained Efrien, his party is currently carrying out a series of inspection activities.
The last examination was carried out on Wednesday. Several witnesses were summoned and questioned as witnesses.
Efrien said the witnesses who were present gave the information were two people. They come from officials from the NTB Mineral Resources Energy Service (ESDM) and the NTB Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Representative Office.
"So, of the four who were summoned, two attended," he said.
The two government officials who attended were said to have the initials HB from the NTB ESDM Service, and MN from the NTB Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Representative Office.
"Two more people are unable to attend because there are official activities," he said.
Regarding the capacity of the two witnesses who gave statements before special criminal investigators, Efrien did not explain in full.
He only ensured that both of them had an important role and knew about the iron sand mining activities that were running in East Lombok Regency.
The allegedly problematic iron sand mining activity took place in Pringgabaya District, East Lombok Regency.
The mining activity was allegedly carried out by a company with the initials AMG with a production operation mining business permit (IUP-OP) capital.
The company is mining using a "magnetic separator" or an engine that utilizes magnetic attraction to separate mineral content materials.
