The Impact Of The M 4.3 Earthquake In Garut, Dozens Of Houses In Pasirwangi And Samarang Districts Damaged

GARUT - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported an earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 4.3 in Garut, which triggered the Garsela fault, causing damage to dozens of houses in Pasirwangi and Samarang sub-districts.

The Head of BPBD Garut Regency, Satria Budi, said that until now there have been no reports of casualties due to the earthquake that occurred on Wednesday, February 1 that night.

"Of the 42 sub-districts that reported until 03.00 in the morning, there was nothing else (damage) except for two affected sub-districts, namely Samarang and Pasirwangi," he said in Garut, West Java (West Java), Thursday, February 2, as reported by Antara.

He explained that the Garut BPBD had deployed all ranks and instructed all sub-district heads to check each region.

The results of the temporary report, said Satria, there was damage to 20 houses scattered in Cisarua Village, and Samarang Village, Samarang District, then two houses in Padawas Village, Pasirwangi District.

"In Samarang 20 units of two villages, Cisarua and Samarang, in Padawas, Pasirwangi, only two houses," he said.

He submitted that the damage report was only temporary, and it was necessary to re-check in the field regarding the level of damage.

The BPBD team and other agency elements, he said, had launched to the field to check whether the house was damaged by the earthquake, or if someone took advantage of the disaster situation.

"We will assess whether it was the impact of an earthquake or other impact, even then (it was reported that it was damaged) only cracked, there was a change in the structure because it did not use a concrete frame," he said.

He conveyed that the next step would be prepared by the relevant agencies regarding what kind of assistance would be calculated based on the results of checking in the field.

If the condition is slightly damaged, such as a peeling wall, he said, repairs can be made independently, if it is heavily damaged, of course there will be an assessment calculated by the technical office.

"Later on, the Tarkim Service (Dinas Spatial Planning and Settlements) will review, more technically later, that is the technical calculation from Tarkim, today we have ordered the leadership to conduct an assessment," said Satria Budi.
