KAI Proposes Basic Tariff For LRT Jabodebek To Be IDR15,000, Ministry Of Transportation: Still In Discussion
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is still discussing the determination of the Jabodetabek Light Rail Transit (LRT) tariff.
The tariff proposed by Indonesian Railways (KAI) ranges from IDR 12,000 to IDR 15,000.
For your information, the Jabodebek LRT transportation mode is targeted to operate in July 2023. Now the construction progress has reached 88.4 percent.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati explained that currently her party is still conducting discussions regarding the determination of LRT rates.
"It's still being discussed, that's later when it comes to tariffs there will be a lot of discussion with stakeholders. KAI is also counting. So everything is still being discussed and we shouldn't speculate," he told reporters, Wednesday, January 18.
Regarding subsidies, Adita said he could not confirm this. This is because they have to study it first. This is because subsidies for rail transportation modes have decreased compared to last year.
"We will discuss it later. Because the subsidy for trains was just set a few days ago and there was a decrease compared to last year specifically for trains. That's why we have to make more precise arrangements or allocations," he explained.

For your information, the government through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation has signed a public service obligation (PSO) contract for the economy and subsidized pioneer trains in 2023.
In detail, the PSO is IDR 2,549,288,981,000, and the subsidized funds for the printing train are IDR 124,075,614,136.
The train services that will receive an injection of PSO funds include long-distance, medium-distance, short-distance economy trains, economy KRD, Jabodetabek and Yogyakarta KRL and Eid economy trains.
