BMKG Makes People Alert To Rainy Rain Accompanied By Lightning And Winds Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public to be aware of the potential for heavy rain that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in parts of Indonesia on Sunday, January 15. In weather early warning systems, BMKG predicts provinces that have the potential to experience moderate to heavy intensity that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds potentially occur in Aceh, Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu. Furthermore, Gorontalo, Jambi, West Java, East Java, Lampung, Maluku, North Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara. In addition, East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua, Riau, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and South Sumatra. Previously, BMKG and the Navy Hydro-Oceanography Center (Pushidrosal) agreed on cooperation in data utilization and information on maritime meteorology, climatology, geophysics, and hydro-oceanography. Several forms of cooperation are contained in the PKS manuscript between BMKG and Pushidrosal including data utilization and maritime meteorological information, climatology, geophysics and hydro-oceanography; calibration of meteorological equipment, technical capacity improvement in the field of meteorology, climatology, and geophysics as well as hydro-oceanography. In addition, education in Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (STMKG) High Schools, web portal integration, utilization of facilities and infrastructure, and surveys, analysis as well as joint publications. BMKG utilizes several tidal data sources, one of which is the Pushidrosal Sequencing Data each year, as a reference to maritime meteorological information, especially tidal flooding. "Pushidrosal tidal prediction data also assists operational activities in 21 maritime meteorological UPTs in protecting the security and comfort of the community. We expect the use of meteorological-oceanographic data from both parties to support and improve shipping safety and maritime defense in Indonesian waters," he said, quoted by Antara.
