Investigation of the Oil Tank Fire Incident is Still Ongoing, Oil and Gas Production at the Jabung CA Continues
JAKARTA – The Cooperation Contract Contractor (KKKS) PetroChina International Jabung Ltd has coordinated with various stakeholders in investigating the incident that occurred in the WB-D7 well area in West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province.
Vice President of Human Resources & Relations of PetroChina, Dencio Renato Boele, explained PetroChina had received the presence of several external parties who carried out site inspections. Includes a team from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the police forensic laboratory center (Puslabfor), and the Manpower Office from West Tanjung Jabung Regency and Jambi Province.
"PetroChina is ready to work with various stakeholders in conducting a transparent investigation of the incident in the WB-D7 well area", he told the media, Friday, January 13.
He continued, coordination with drilling service companies related to handling at the location is still being carried out.
"Until now, oil and gas production activities in the Jabung Working Area are still running normally and the investigation process in the field is ongoing. No environmental impacts have been reported from this incident", continued Dencio.

As is known, this incident occurred in the WB-D7 well area which was operated by drilling service companies. The incident involved three workers, including two from the Bohai Drilling Contractor company and one from the Great Wall Drilling Contractor.
The two service companies are contractors providing the Bohai-85 Rig which has carried out a workover program at the WB-D7 well in the Jabung Working Area.
After a thorough medical examination, one worker is allowed to undergo outpatient treatment. Meanwhile, two workers received intensive treatment at a hospital in Jambi.
One due to burns and one due to a broken bone. The injury to the worker with the broken bone occurred when he attempted to run away from the fire.
Currently, the two workers have received appropriate medical treatment according to their respective conditions and both are in stable condition.
Based on the results of an ongoing investigation by the PetroChina PSC Contractor team together with external parties including the Directorate General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Police Forensic Laboratory and the Manpower Office, the Head of the South Sumatra SKK Migas Representative, Anggono Mahendrawan, reiterated that it was necessary to ascertain the cause of the incident.
"We ask that the PetroChina PSC Contractor review the results of the investigation with the authorities and this can become material for joint evaluation and become special attention for the future", said Anggono.
SKK Migas requests PSC Contractors to continue to prioritize strategic steps such as corrective actions in fulfilling operating procedures and deepening risk assessment of all activities carried out. Thus, all upstream oil and gas operations can be carried out safely and achieve the national production target to contribute to energy security
