The Head Of BMKG Emphasized The Tsunami Early Warning After The M 7.5 Maluku Earthquake Was Not Revoked But Ended
JAKARTA - Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Dwikorita Karnawati emphasized that the tsunami early warning after an earthquake measuring magnitude (M) 7.5 rocked Maluku was not revoked but ended.
"The tsunami early warning update was not revoked, not canceled, but ended," Dwikorita said in a press conference seen from the Instagram account @infobmkg, Tuesday, January 10.
He emphasized that this condition was based on the sea level in West Southeast Maluku after the M 7.5 earthquake occurred on Tuesday, January 10 at 00.47 WIB.
"Because it looks like there is still a sea level increase, it's just not significant," said Dwikorita.
Based on the BMKG report, this earthquake point is located in the Northwest of West Southeast Maluku below sea level with a depth of 131 kilometers.

In connection with the end of the tsunami early warning, Dwikorita said BMKG recommended that people return to their normal activities.
"Given that the tsunami early warning has ended, people in coastal areas are encouraged to be able to carry out their activities as usual," he said.
The public is also advised to remain calm and not affect issues that cannot be justified. Including avoiding buildings that are cracked or damaged by the earthquake.
"Check and make sure the building where you live is earthquake-resistant enough, or there is no damage due to earthquake vibrations that endanger the stability of the building before you return to the house," he said.
