Head of Public Relations of the Bangka Police, AKP Zulkarnain, said that the two perpetrators of the theft of 1,970 kilograms (kg) or 1.9 tons of palm oil in the Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel) face up to seven years in prison.
"Based on evidence weighing 1,970 kilograms (kg) of palm oil belonging to PT Putra Bangka Mandiri, the two perpetrators of theft on behalf of Supriyandi alias Awi (33) and Muslim Sugianto alias Yetno (35) were threatened with seven years in prison for allegedly violating Article 363 paragraph 3.4 of the Criminal Code of theft with weighting," he said in a written statement, Tuesday, January 3, confiscated from Antara.
The two perpetrators were arrested on Monday, January 2 after reports from the public on November 17, 2022.
The arrest of the perpetrator took several months, calculated from the time of the report because the police had to investigate first.
From the results of the investigation, it is known that in carrying out the crime, the two perpetrators deliberately used a black pickup belonging to the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) Kace Village, West Mendo District, Bangka Regency to carry 1.9 tons of stolen palm oil.
"When he was about to be arrested, one of the perpetrators on behalf of Muslim Sugianto had fought against police personnel using sharp weapons in the form of machetes, keris andjuks," he said.
He invited the entire community to play an active role in maintaining security and order in order to create a conducive area by not committing violations of the law and immediately reporting to the nearest police if they learned of any suspected violations of the law.
To create a conducive area, it must be carried out integrated in all elements because it cannot only be done unilaterally by the Police.
