MRT Jakarta Has Robot Employees Who Can Be Invited To Talk Customers

JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta launched smart robot innovations that seem to be patrol employees in the station area. The robot is called DINA (Digital Intelligent Assistant) which is stationed at Lebak Bulus Grab Station, South Jakarta.

Director of Operations and Maintenance of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Muhammad Effendi revealed that this running surveillance robot was developed to meet the needs of Jakarta MRT customers.

"The function of this DINA Robot is to patrol the station area to monitor station operations including facilities and conditions in public areas," said Effendi in his statement, Wednesday, December 28.

In addition, DINA Robot can also be spoken to with customers. In a sense, this robot is capable of two-way interactions with passengers. However, what actually interacts with customers is the officer at the station who uses the connection technology device with the robot.

"During the trial, I tried to communicate with one of the passengers. The passenger saw me through the screen on the DINA Robot and I saw it through a computer screen which would later be in one of the rooms at the station," said Effendi.

"In fact, we can check and see what this DINA Robot sees through cellphones, even though it is at home or office," he continued.

Effendi revealed, DINA Robot also helps the management level to find out how real time is at the station so that it helps in decision making or policies.

"In the future, this DINA Robot will further develop according to our operational needs at the station, both in assisting services to passengers and security supervision. DINA robots can patrol autonomously and use officer control," explained Effendi.

After the trial period, MRT Jakarta will conduct a study and evaluation for the addition of DINA Robot at other stations, including stations that are being built in phase 2A.
