If Approved, The Name Of Ciamis Regency Will Not Change Again So Galuh
JAKARTA - The change in the name of the Ciamis Regency area to Galuh is still under discussion. Previously, the community encouraged and wanted to change the name of the Ciamis area based on its historical value.
The discussion of regional names was carried out through the Focus Group Discussion involving a number of cultural observers, artists, cultural activists, SKPDs, sub-district heads, religious leaders, and community leaders organized by the Youth and Sports Culture Service in the Ciamis Secretariat Hall, Tuesday 27 December.
Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya said, Galuh for the people of Ciamis is a name that has an important meaning. Have a philosophy, literally, rich in history and has stuck strongly in the hearts of the people.
"We can see the pride of Galuh in every naming in Ciamis Regency, such as Galuh Stadium, Galuh University, Tirta Galuh PDAM, even the PSGC football team and so on," said the Regent as quoted by Antara.
He conveyed that the public's concern by naming Galuh showed the spirit of many Ciamis people.
"The name Galuh is still a spirit for our community, so the word Tatar Galuh is always conveyed in every word or expression on a daily basis," he said.
The Regent revealed that historically the change in the name Ciamis to Galuh was motivated by the open debate of the Ciamis Regent Election which was launched by one of the debaters.
In the debate, he said, it became a consideration for the elected regent to make it happen by forming a commitment, then the decision of the Ciamis Regent Number 060/KPTS.72-HUK/2022 concerning the Establishment of the Committee for Preparation for Changes in Name of Ciamis Regency to Galuh Regency.
"Alhamdulillah, this year we are on the way the Ciamis Regency Government carried out this mandate as a form of our dedication to Tatar Galuh Ciamis," said the Regent.
Head of the Department of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ciamis Regency, Erwan Darmawan added, one of the basics for changing regional names refers to Permendagri Number 30 of 2014 concerning Guidelines for Providing Regional Names, Giving Capital Names, Changing Regional Names, Amendments to the Capital City, and Transfer of the Capital City.
"This activity aims to equalize perceptions and responses that can produce an agreement regarding the plan to return the name of Ciamis Regency to Galuh Regency," he said.
