Alex Marquez Spends What Can Be Done For His Brother, Marc Marquez Leave Honda

JAKARTA - Driver Alex Marquez revealed things that could make his brother, Marc Marquez leave the team he is currently defending, Repsol Honda.

Alex said Marquez was disappointed with the performance of Repsol Honda in the Valencia MotoGP test. This is because the results of the Valencia MotoGP test left Marc Marquez in position 13 with a time record of 0.644 seconds from Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Ducati) who became the fastest rider.

Alex said, it was not just the time that was questioned by Marc Marquez. His brother regretted the slow progress of the 2023 motorcycle prototype season.

"We were (after the test) one car and kept quiet. Marc (Marquez) was angry, I asked if he was trying new things on his motorbike, he said yes, but nothing worked and that was it," said Alex Marquez, quoted from Speedweek on Tuesday, December 27.

"I then just told him Ducati was different. He's my brother, but I want to beat him," he added about his brother.

Marc Marquez still has a strong determination to be able to fight in the world championship in MotoGP 2023 after being injured last season. He had to settle for finishing in 13th place because he missed several races.

With the great spirit of his brother, Alex believes, if Honda is unable to provide a competitive motorbike for the 2023 season, Marquez may start thinking about leaving.

"I think if Honda made the steps that had to be taken, Marc would not leave. That's why the team he has always defended was waiting for him and respected him when he was injured," continued Alex.

"But if the motorbike cannot be used for world championships, then it ( Marquez's departure) is possible," he explained.
