Jakarta With A Potential Rainfall Until New Year's Eve 2023, Acting Governor Heru Imbau WFH Private Employees

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono appealed to private companies in Jakarta to implement a work from home (WFH) system towards the end of this year.

This is done to anticipate the potential for extreme weather in the form of heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds at the end of 2022.

"We will urge later on December 30 to 2, 2023 (January 2023) to be partial," said Heru at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Tuesday, December 27.

Heru conveyed this appeal after meeting with the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto to coordinate regarding extreme weather anticipation.

He hopes that the large number of WFH employees in Jakarta can avoid congestion that often occurs after heavy rains and causes inundation.

"If there was a disaster, it could go through PPID, explaining, conditioning each private employee to be able to WFH to avoid congestion, disaster, waste, and others," said Heru.

Along with that, Heru said that the DKI Provincial Government also continues to dredge rivers and reservoirs to increase their water capacity so as to reduce the impact of flooding in residential areas.

Also, continuing to coordinate with buffer areas such as Bogor, Depok, and Tangerang regarding the potential for heavy rain in the area. Given, heavy rains in buffer areas can cause flooding in Jakarta due to water flow from upstream to downstream.

"This is done routinely by the Head of DKI BPBD, cooperation in exchanging information, movement of disaster management policies, it has been carried out routinely," he said.

It is known that the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reminded the public to be aware of extreme weather for the Christmas and New Year period from December 25, 2022 to January 1, 2023.

BPBD said that several areas in Jakarta have the potential to experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

"Based on the BMKG press release, the results of the latest analysis show that in the next week there will be significant potential atmospheric dynamics that can have an impact on increasing rainfall in a number of parts of Indonesia, especially during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2022/2023 period," wrote the BPBD statement.
