Rian Johnson Glads Form Ensembel Actor In Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

JAKARTA - Rian Johnson is back with the second film Knives Out entitled Glass Onion. He also collaborated with Daniel Craig who played the iconic character Benoit Blanc.

This is a new challenge but when Daniel (Crig) and I worked on the first film, we really enjoyed the production time. But we thought of treating them like Agatha Christie treated his books and carried out completely new mysteries, "Rian Johnson's story during a press conference some time ago.

Rian also presents a series of new character ensembles in this film. They are Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Noah Segan, and others.

When asked, Rian Johnson tried to align all the characters in this story. As a result, he chose a new location and a new mystery as a form of freshness in the Knives Out franchise.

My head rotates when thinking about the fact that we can get together. There are additional elements like a dinner party that shows the ensemble of his acting, "he said.

"We knew we would be in the same location together and stay temporarily. So we try to choose actors who are expected to work with each other," explained Rian.

This was also approved by one of the actors, Kathryn Hahn. According to him, dinner is a place for acting as well as a combination of conflicts between each other.

There is a metaphor for a dinner party that consists of a real sense without ego on the part of all humans. Because we have to spend every day together both behind and front of the screen," said Kathryn Hahn.

We had lunch together. So it's like a theater ensemble. (Rian) was able to gather actors like this, very rarely. People are together for one thing. Even Daniel, who started first," Hahn continued.

This is the right group of people. Kathryn is right. They applaud each other when doing monologues, and they bring this film together. So it's not just on screen but in the real world, these ensembles are formed," said Rian Johnson.

Glass Onion tells of the murder at a luxury yacht in Greece. Blanc is tasked with solving the mystery case and looking for the mastermind behind it all. This film is a sequel to Knives Out (2019) starring Daniel Craig and Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery premieres today, Friday, December 23 on Netflix.
