Then The Ferry Patah Ship In The Middle Of The Sofifi Sea, 278 Passengers Dievacuated By The Ternate Basarnas
MALUKU- The SAR team from the Ternate Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) has evacuated 278 passengers on the KMP Ferindo VI ferry whose wheel was broken while in the Sofifi waters, Tidore Islands City.
Head of Ternate Basarnas Fathur Rahman said the State Ship (KN) SAR Pandudewanata, RIB 04 Ternate, and the KSOP 358 Ternate ship were deployed to evacuate passengers from the Sofifi-Ternate route ship.
Based on an Antara report, KN SAR 237 Pandudewanata arrived at the KMP Mutiara Ferindo VI on Thursday, December 22 at 19.32 WIT. SAR officers on the ship then recorded passengers and evacuated them.
KN SAR 237 Pandudewanata was used to evacuate 183 passengers from the ship, while KNP 358 KPLP was used to evacuate 95 passengers.
A total of 18 passengers chose to stay at KMP Mutiara Ferindo VI with 15 crew members because their vehicles were on board.
Fathur said that on Thursday, December 22, at 21.20 WIT, the passengers of KMP Mutiara Ferindo VI who were evacuated had arrived at Ahmad Ternate Port in a safe condition.
Furthermore, Fathur also said that Basarnas had alerted personnel to anticipate the possibility of disasters during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
During the 2022 Christmas and 2023 holidays, the Ternate Basarnas alerted personnel at Sultan Babullah Airport, Dufa Dufa Port, Ahmad Yani Port, Mangga Dua Ant Fleet Port, Bastiong Port, and Ternate Feri Port in addition to preparing officers at post offices and SAR units such as Tobelo, Bacan, Morotai, and Sanana.
The Search and Rescue Office has also prepared KN SAR 237 Pandudewanata Ships, RB 309 Ships, Rigit Inflatable Boats (RIB), rubber boats, operational vehicles, and SAR equipment to support SAR operations from 19 December 2022 to 3 January 2023.
