The residents of Kariu Village are still taking refuge in Aboru Country, Haruku Island, Central Maluku, after clashes between villages in early 2022. The Acting (Pj) Regent of Central Maluku, Muhammad Marasabessy, said the repatriation of refugees would be realized on 19 December.

"The plan to repatriate the first phase of the Kariu refugees consisting of 109 heads of families using the transportation that will be used, namely ships for the repatriation of refugees," said Marasabessy in Ambon, Maluku, Thursday, December 15, as reported by Antara.

Meanwhile, the next scenario will be carried out by land as well as to reconcile with the people of Hulaliuw.

According to him, the Central Maluku Regency Government has also prepared funds to finance the repatriation of refugees of Rp. 113 million in addition to the provision of various basic necessities and other necessities.

"For BLT from the Social Service, it will be distributed for three months with an amount of IDR 335,000 per family, in addition to assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.

"So the funds that we have prepared are Rp. 7.6 billion, while the urgent need in the field of education for basic education is prepared for funds of Rp. 199 million," said Marasabessy.

The Central Maluku Regency Government has also prepared agricultural counseling personnel and distributed Rp90 million for agricultural counseling personnel on Haruku Island and its surroundings.

Meanwhile, security will involve the TNI-Polri, especially children from Haruku Island for security and traditional events for repatriation later.

Kapolresta Ambon and Pulau-pulau Lease Kombes (Pol) Raja Arthur Lumongga Simamora added, had deployed 152 personnel in the area.

"The communication we are doing is as a team commanded by the Acting Regent of Central Maluku," said Arthur.

Meanwhile, Pelauw Country King Rasyad Effendi Latucosina emphasized that he supports the repatriation of refugees from the land of Kariu.
