Jakarta - The Golkar Party is ready to provide legal assistance to its cadres who serve as Deputy Chair of the East Java Provincial DPRD (East Java) Sahat Tua Simanjuntak after being caught in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrest operation (OTT) in Surabaya.
Deputy Secretary General (Wasekjen) of the Golkar Party DPP, Sarmuji said, his party is ready to provide legal assistance to Sahat if the person concerned needs it. "If Pak Sahat needs it, there will be legal assistance, as can the community get legal assistance," said Sarmuji when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, December 15.
However, Sarmuji said the Golkar Party was still waiting for an official statement from the KPK. Because, he said, his party also had not received any certainty regarding the news of Sahat's escape in the OTT.
"Until now I don't know the certainty, because the KPK has not officially released it," said Sarmuji.
It is known that the KPK secured the Deputy Chairperson of the East Java Provincial DPRD, Sahat Tua Simanjuntak, during the OTT in Surabaya, Wednesday, December 14, evening. Not only the Golkar Party cadre, the KPK also secured three other people.
"There were 3 other people who were also secured, consisting of expert staff in the DPRD and the private sector," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, December 15.
The KPK has not explained in more detail regarding the identity caught in the silent operation. Ali only said that this activity was carried out allegedly because of a bribe related to the allocation of the East Java Provincial Budget.
"Regarding the alleged corruption of bribery in managing the allocation of grant funds, it comes from the East Java Regional Budget," said Ali.
