Illegal Parking In Jakarta Kian Merajala, Observer: Time For Bike Paths To Park Visitors' Cars
JAKARTA - The rise of illegal parking in Jakarta often takes advantage of the existence of public facilities for roads, bicycle lanes and sidewalks. The large number of illegal parking is also suspected of carrying out illegal levies (extortion) and acts of thuggery.
Until now, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government does not seem to be serious about making arrangements related to parking in the city of Jakarta.
Moreover, the existence of illegal parking pockets on a number of sidewalks in the Market area, culinary places to a number of agencies has become fertile land for thuggery practices.
Transportation observer Azas Tigor Nainggolan said that illegal parking is not only available in the Grand Indonesia area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. The existence of illegal parking in the Grand Indonesia area is only an entry point related to illegal parking problems that are apparently rife in Jakarta.
"Look at the illegal parking lot in front of the traditional food dining area (Location of the Development of the Central Jakarta PPKUMKM Sub-Department) on Jalan Kramat Raya, Senen District, Central Jakarta. The parking period for the visitor's car is actually above the bicycle lane," said Azas Tigor Nainggolan when confirmed, Monday, December 12.
Azas Tigor further said that the practice of illegal parking in the culinary area of Jalan Kramat Raya had been running for 5 years. He also questioned the performance of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency.
"This illegal parking practice has been rampant for 5 years, the Transportation Agency has been silent and let it go. Why was it ignored by the Transportation Agency? Because there was a lot of money in the practice of illegal parking in Jakarta into the pockets of the Transportation Agency and Parking UPs," he said.
Azas Tigor said that parking costs outside the building were even more expensive and illegal parking fees were leaked into extortion for certain individuals.
"But if you park in the building, it depends on how many hours you park. Parking in the building for regional treasury, you can get a parking tax (official)," he said.
Previously, it was reported that transportation observer Azas Tigor Nainggolan asked the Transportation Service (Dishub) to work effectively in maintaining bicycle lanes so that cyclists can take advantage of the special lane without any interference from other motorized vehicles.
The reason is that currently, bicycle lanes are often used as road access by two-wheeled, three-wheeled, and four-wheeled vehicles. A number of angkots are used by bicycle lanes when passing. In addition, bicycle lanes also do not escape to become vehicle parking lots.
"That's the bicycle lane as long as it was made at the same time as the Transportation Agency in the era of Governor Anies. As long as it's made, just chase the long target," said Azas when confirmed by VOI, Monday, December 5.
