2022 World Cup, Thiago Tenang Neymar And Kawans After Being Kicked Out Of Croatia
JAKARTA - Thiago Silva said that Croatia's elimination of the Brazilian national team (timnas) from the 2022 World Cup by penalties was very painful.
The 38-year-old Brazil captain also accepts the fact that he will never be able to win the World Cup and his last possible competition with the Samba team.
"It's hard to accept," Silva said after the game quoted by AFP on Saturday. "I've gone through some disappointment in my life and when we failed to achieve our goal, it was very painful."
"However, we must try to enforce our heads and keep going. There is no other alternative."
Brazil was sent home by Croatia in the quarter-finals for losing a 2-4 penalty shootout after a 120-minute 1-1 draw.
Neymar opened the scoring for Brazil in extra time, but Bruno Petkovic equalized in the minutes of the game before continuing to the drama on penalties.
Silva said his team suddenly lost a consensus after winning one goal. "We are not used to being attacked like that. We became a little out of order and that's where the goal came from."
"Unfortunately, as a player I will not be able to lift this trophy," he said. "Who knows in the future I will have a chance in another role."
