Kadin Chairman Arsjad Rasjid: Whoever the President is Elected in 2024, Indonesia's 2045 Vision Must Still Be Continued

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Arsjad Rasjid hopes that whoever the leader is elected in the 2024 Presidential Election, Indonesia's vision for 2045 must continue.

"Even though the new presidential election will take place in 2024, the echoes are already being felt now. Therefore, I hope that whoever the leader is, the vision of Indonesia 2045 will not back down," he said in his statement, quoted from Antara, Thursday 8 December.

Arsjad said, Indonesia currently has a clear vision in 2045, which is determined to become a developed country with the fourth largest economic growth in the world.

This vision is translated by the current government by boosting infrastructure development for the sake of equitable development, vocational education for quality human resources, commitment to carry out a clean energy transition, and consistently building awareness of an inclusive nation.

These steps are supported by a comprehensive arrangement of economic strategies, such as building a large-scale economic ecosystem based on downstream.

Mineral commodities such as nickel, bauxite, copper and tin will be integrated to form large-scale economic ecosystems such as electric vehicles and expansion of national export products based on processing and finished goods.

"We already have a vision of 2045 at the golden age, namely Indonesia as a developed country with the fourth largest economy in the world. Now all we have to do is find the right driver to continue the bus journey with 270 million passengers," he said.

Previously, in his remarks during the opening ceremony of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas), President Joko Widodo said that Indonesia has strengths that other countries do not have.

These strengths include a wealth of mineral resources, a demographic bonus of the world's top four at 274 million people with a productive workforce of around 201 million, a strategic geographical location on global trade routes, and abundant clean energy.

“We will integrate all these powers. We no longer walk alone, playing with small projects. Our new economic civilization in Golden Indonesia 2045 will be supported by a large-scale economic ecosystem that is driven by the wealth and power that we have. I am sure that all investors will come to Indonesia," he said.

Through allegory, Arsjad stressed, with the various efforts that have been made by the current government, Indonesian buses have progressed step by step towards achieving the vision of Indonesia 2045. These buses cannot go backwards.

“Find the most suitable driver, who can continue this vision. Don't go back again," he said.

Arsjad said that the main criteria for future leaders of this nation is a matter of heart. Elected leaders must have a heart for the people, not necessarily only accommodate certain interests.

A heart for the people means bringing prosperity fairly to all people, maintaining Indonesia's diversity, and Indonesia's main identity in development, namely mutual cooperation.
