208 Kendari Basarnas Basarnas People From 62 Events Throughout 2022

KENDARI - The Kendari Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) recorded that it had saved as many as 208 people from 62 incidents from January to November 30, 2022.

Public Relations of the Kendari Basarnas, Wahyudi, said the work area of the Kendari Basarnas covers 17 regencies or cities throughout Southeast Sulawesi, including the Sorowako area, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.

"For the period January 1 to November 30, 2022, the number of incidents handled by the Kendari Search and Rescue Office (KKP) or Basarnas has 62 incidents," he said in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Thursday, December 1, as reported by Antara.

He detailed that of the 62 incidents handled by his party for 11 months in 2022, including ship accidents 36, conditions that endanger humans, such as missing in 25 forest events and handling one natural disaster.

Wahyudi said that of the 62 SAR operations, his party managed to save as many as 208 people with details of 170 ship accidents; conditions that endanger humans such as missing or drowning in the river, lost in 28 people in the forest, and 10 natural disasters.

In addition, of the 62 incidents handled by the Kendari Basarnas, 25 people died, with details of 10 people from ship accidents, and 15 people from dangerous human conditions.

"Then there were six people who were declared missing with details of three from ship accidents and three from conditions that endanger humans," he said.

Wahyudi explained, for the missing victim and there were no signs of his whereabouts when the SAR operation entered its seventh day, the search was stopped according to the agreement of all parties including the victim's family.

"For victims who were not found, SAR operations can be continued if signs of the victim's whereabouts are found," said Wahyudi.

Basarnas appealed, especially fishermen before going to sea, to pay attention to the feasibility of ships, communication tools, safety equipment, and always pay attention to weather conditions. In addition, preparing communication and navigation tools such as radio marine, cellphone, map, and GPS,
