Sandiaga Uno: The Rise Of MSMEs Encourages National Economic Recovery
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the rise of MSMEs was encouraging the recovery of the national economy. This is in line with the improving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
"That's why we are responsible for supporting the revival of MSMEs, including culinary MSMEs," said Sandiaga Uno in the #DukungUMKM Culinary Webinar themed 'Classy because of the quality' initiated by Mondelez Indonesia.
Sandiaga Uno then said that the presence of the #DukungUMKMKuliner initiative was in line with the government's efforts to encourage national economic recovery. This is because culinary MSMEs have proven to contribute IDR 455.44 trillion or around 41 percent of the total GDP of the creative economy in 2020.
"The culinary sector also absorbs 9.5 million workers, of which this will have a major impact on the Indonesian economy," said Sandiaga Uno in his statement, Sunday, November 27.
The rise of MSME culinary in Indonesia was also proven through the findings of NielsenIQ in the Household Sharing Survey, there was an increase in the allocation of household spending for leisure activities, one of which was eating out.
"From 27 percent in Q2 2021 to 30 percent of the total household expenditure costs in Q2 2022," said Anindita Septadiani as Research Director of NielsenIQ.
Anindita reminded that for culinary MSMEs to advance to class, business actors are expected to be observant about opportunities and understand consumer behavior by formulating quality strategies, including by collaborating on menus using quality products, maximizing digital promotions and online delivery services, and innovating in accordance with the growing trend.
"It is important to follow the growing trend, because based on the results of the 2021 The State of Snacking survey, it is known that consumers are increasingly selective in choosing snacks, thus making competition in the culinary industry more stringent and giving new challenges to culinary MSME players," said Parveen Dalal, President Director of Mondelez Indonesia.
