Many Victims In The Cianjur Earthquake, Ministry Of PUPR Must Immediately Find Construction Technology To Be Earthquake-Resilient

JAKARTA - Commission V of the DPR urges the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) to find earthquake-resistant construction technology to anticipate the destruction of buildings due to large shocks. This was said by a member of Commission V of the DPR from the PKB faction, Neng Eem Marhamah Zulfa, in response to the large number of houses destroyed due to an earthquake measuring 5.6 in Cianjur at noon yesterday. Almost all of the hundreds of victims died due to falling soil and buildings. "Of course we will encourage, I also urge PUPR to find earthquake-resistant construction technology, especially for buildings, if there is no minimum minimization," Neng Eem told VOI, Tuesday, November 22. The legislator of PKB Dapil Cianjur and Bogor, West Java, said that he had personally communicated with the Ministry of PUPR and Basarnas to immediately send aid to disaster sites.

Currently, Neng Eem is still directly monitoring the assistance and developments of the evacuation in Cianjur.

"We have indeed asked the Ministry of PUPR when we were in Jakarta to Cianjur to also coordinate, call Basarnas to lower heavy equipment. Thank God we immediately went down in the afternoon, we are already at the location where the excavator has dropped, only heavy equipment has not yet," said Neng Eem. The member of the Commission in partnership with the Ministry of PUPR, BMKG and Basarnas said that the route leading to Cianjur can be passed. It's just that, there are still a lot of trucks carrying landslides and buildings due to the earthquake.

"Then the Minister also followed the evening. Thank God, today it has been opened and can transport land, the Puncak route, Cipanas to Cianjur can be passed, only disturbed by trucks carrying the rest of the avalanches, like that," he said. In addition, Neng Eem has also asked the PUPR Ministry to immediately carry out recovery related to public facilities and damaged houses so that they can be used again. Neng Eem predicts that there will be additional data on damaged buildings that have previously been recorded as having more than 2,000 houses.

"We have also conveyed to the Ministry of PUPR and asked that disaster recovery related to infrastructure be considered, assisted for Cianjur Regency, especially a large number of houses collapsed," he said.

"Yesterday until 20.00 there were more than 2,300 ruma, all of that has not been recorded, of course today there will be more," added Neng Eem. Therefore, the Secretary of the PKB Faction at the MPR RI asked the government to disburse APBN funds to deal with the Cianjur disaster. Because according to him, the APBD budget will not be sufficient to cover infrastructure improvements in Cianjur Regency. "I am sure that with the large number of infrastructures damaged, both owned by residents and public facilities, buildings and so on, I am sure that the APBD will not be able, the central APBN must intervene so that the community can return to normal," concluded Neng Eem.
