Sweden Ready To Record Military Aid For Ukraine, But Not Including The Archer Artillery System
JAKARTA - Sweden will send new military aid worth 3 billion Swedish krona or around Rp. 4,478,379,264,000 to Ukraine, its largest defense aid package to date covering the air defense system, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said.
Previous weapons donations by Sweden, which have been put forward to join NATO together with Finland's neighboring countries, range from simple equipment such as helmets and body shields to rocket-propelled grenades and missiles.
"This is a larger military support package than the previous eight packages combined," Kristersson told a news conference.
"Ini adalah satu-satunya yang terbesar yang telah kami lakukan, dan kami mengikuti persis daftar prioritas Ukraine dari apa yang menurut mereka perlukan sekarang," sambungnya.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Pal Jonson said a new package of military equipment including air defense and ammunition systems was urgently needed to defend Ukraine from the intense attacks of Russian missiles in recent weeks.
Sweden's government under the previous prime minister has approved several stages of aid to Ukraine, both military and humanitarian, worth more than 1 billion Swedish krona.
The Archer artillery system, which has been on Ukraine's wish list some time ago, is not included in the new aid package.
However, Minister Jonson did not rule it out for the future and said more aid would come.
