For Carbon Emission, PLN Invites MRT Jakarta To Build Electric Vehicle Battery Charging Stations
PLN UID Jakarta Raya invites PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta to build a public electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU) including the exchange of electric vehicle batteries in the MRT station area.
This is in line with the increasing use of electric vehicles in Jakarta, as well as controlling carbon emissions.
General Manager of the Main Distribution Unit of Greater Jakarta, Doddy Pangaribuan, said that there are more and more battery-based electric vehicles, both two and four wheels, in Jakarta.
Along with the growth in the use of electric vehicles, the need for SPKLU has also increased.
Therefore, Doddy invited MRT Jakarta to provide SPKLU and electric vehicle battery exchange sites in the useable MRT station area.
Previously, the MRT had also just inaugurated and socialized the Solar Power Charging Station or Solar Charging Station in the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) I Dukuh Atas area.
"Earlier, we spoke with Pak Farchad (Director of Business Development of PT MRT Jakarta), how in the future may MRT be interested in providing SPKLU, including battery exchanges. In our offices with online motorcycle taxi operators, I think with several places on the MRT it can also be cooperated," he said., 60 percent of the electricity reserves can be utilized.
"We are ready to supply electricity, don't worry about 3,000 Megawatt (MW) reserves in Jakarta from the needs of 5,400 MW. So our supplies are around 8,400 (MW), there is still 60 percent of electricity that we can use, one of which is to charge electric vehicles or EVs for four or two wheels," he said.
"Everything will be electric in time, this electricity is past energy, present and future," he continued.
Responding to the invitation, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Business Development Director Farchad Mahfud said he would further discuss plans to build SPKLU for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles in the MRT station area.
"For electric cars, relations with MRT as the center or point of the MRT station, filling or charging stations for cars, earlier what was conveyed by Mr. Dodo, we will discuss after this," he said.
"To determine each PIC to discuss which places we can use for SPKLU filling, for example, or collaboration in other forms, similar to that, in the TOD facility we are building," he continued.
On this occasion, PLN UID Jakarta Raya gave a New Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) certificate to PT MRT Jakarta as proof that 10 percent of Jakarta MRT's electricity needs come from new renewable energy sources. This certificate was issued by the APX Inc agency.
