Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Invites the International Community to Apply Religious Moderation
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin invites the international community to apply religious moderation to maintain world peace in the midst of a rapidly changing global and regional environment.
"Religious moderation management solutions are an important instrument in preventing conflict, building consensus, and maintaining the unity and integrity of a nation and a peaceful world order", said the Vice President while giving a virtual keynote speech at the 9th Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 8.
The vice president appealed to the international community to continue to encourage Wasathiyyah Islamic diplomacy, Islam that is Rahmatan lil Alamin for the international community.
“Indonesia has a high commitment to promoting the Wasathiyah Islamic World axis, where Muslims build global ethics, mutual understanding, mutual respect, and interdependence. The Islamic world must rise to build a harmonious world civilization", he explained.
According to the Vice President, cooperation, support, and strategic partnership from all global communities will be very useful in realizing sustainable global and regional peace.
The vice president said that Indonesia was also actively sending peacekeeping missions and humanitarian missions under the United Nations.

He conveyed that President Joko Widodo's visit to Ukraine and Russia some time ago was an effort to encourage dialogue in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
"Indonesia wants to convey a message about the importance of a diplomatic settlement with a win-win solution approach to any conflicts between countries", said the Vice President.
The vice president then shared the experience of the Indonesian people in maintaining harmony and maintaining unity over religious diversity. He stressed that the Indonesian people strive to uphold the principle of religious freedom as stated in the basic ideology of Pancasila and the democratic system of the Indonesian state.
"One of our efforts is to establish a Religious Harmony Forum, whose members consist of religious assemblies in Indonesia to prevent conflicts with religious backgrounds and at the same time resolve internal and inter-religious disputes", explained the Vice President.
As a concrete step, the Vice President said that the Indonesian government together with all elements of the nation is trying to apply the tradition of deliberation and local wisdom in resolving differences and conflicts as well as building a theology of harmony to prevent conflicts from occurring.
