Zelensky Calls Jokowi: Ukraine Ready To Security Global Food Security

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed a number of things, such as the situation in Ukraine to the Black Sea seed agreement.

"Talking with Ukrainian President Zelensy about the situation in Ukraine and the Black Sea seed deal initiative," the President tweeted in English via his official Twitter account, @jokowi, Friday, November 4.

Communications made on Zelensky are a further step towards telephone talks that Jokowi and Russian President Vladimir Putin made on Wednesday (2/11) to appreciate Russia's decision to rejoin the Black Sea grain agreement.

Russia earlier on Saturday (29/10) had suspended their participation in the Black Sea seed deal, which they signed with Ukraine, the United Nations (UN), and Turkey in Istanbul on July 22, 2022 to resume wheat exports from three major Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea.

Meanwhile, Zelensky on Thursday (3/11) first revealed that he was communicating with Jokowi.

In addition to discussing the importance of continuing the Black Sea seed agreement in the telephone line, Zelensky and Jokowi also discussed the readiness of the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16.

"(I) just called the President of Indonesia Jokowi. We discussed the importance of grain initiatives. Ukraine is ready to continue its role in ensuring global food security. Attention is also devoted to preparations for the G20 Summit," Zelensky tweeted via his official Twitter account, @ZelenskyyUa, Thursday (3/11).

The issue of exporting food commodities, including wheat, from Ukraine and Russia, became one of the topics that Jokowi carried out during a state visit between the two countries at the end of last June.
