Case Of Sadistic Father Killing His Daughter In Depok, KPAI Hopes Parenting Bill Will Be Ratified Soon
JAKARTA - Head of the Division of Supervision, Monitoring, and Evaluation of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Jasra Putra stated the importance of the Child Care Bill (RUU) to be immediately ratified.
This was conveyed by Jasra following the case of a sadistic father killing his biological daughter in Tapos, Depok, West Java. In addition to abusing his daughter to death, the father also slashed his wife.
"The task of parenting in the private sphere can no longer be seen only as a domestic sphere because of the frequent cases of violence in the family like this," said Jasra, as quoted from Antara, Thursday, November 3.
According to Jasra, the Law on the Elimination of Domestic Violence must regulate the private sphere to protect children in the family.
"The care system must be layered and intervened in the private sphere," he said.
He said that currently, violence in the private sphere is very difficult to handle because there is nobody or a person who has the authority to enter the private sphere.
"In this case, we are aware that the child who dies is a child who cannot defend himself, wrong treatment, the method of placement according to parents which results in death. So we are aware that because we cannot defend ourselves, we need an alert warning system from the start through the Parenting Bill," he said.
