Asumkan Peringatan Tegas, Rusia Akan Menghadapi Konsequentif Jika Menggunakan 'Dirty Bomb' Atau Bom Nuklir Lainnya
JAKARTA - The United States, through State Department spokesman Ned Price, issued a firm warning, there will be consequences for Russia whether it uses so-called 'dirty bomb' or other nuclear weapons.
Washington and other Western countries have accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of planning to step up action in Ukraine under pretext Moscow believes Kyiv will use a 'difficult bomb', a device mixed with nuclear material.
"This will certainly be another example of President Putin's brutality, if he uses what is called a 'dirty bomb'. There will be consequences for Russia whether it uses a 'difficult bomb' or a nuclear bomb. We are very clear about that," Price said.
He added that it is important for Moscow to know the deep nature of the consequences that will befall the country if it engages in nuclear use.
He did not specify those consequences or say whether it would be different depending on the type of weapon.
However, Price said the United States had not seen any indications Russia was preparing to use nuclear weapons, but concerns over the possible use of a 'difficult bomb', triggered by a Russian official warning that Ukraine was preparing to use such a bomb.
"We know the Kremlin's track record in terms of claims of this kind. Of course that's the title, which ultimately underlies our concerns," Price said.
"The United States has not seen any reasons to adjust its own nuclear posture," he added.
