Victims Of Death Burns KM Cantika In NTT Waters Becomes 14 Passengers

NTT - The death toll from the burning of the Fast Cantika 77 Motor Ship (KM) in the waters of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) increased to 14 people.

Head of the Class A Kupang Search and Rescue Office of NTT Province I Putu Sudayana said seven of the 14 victims who died had been evacuated to Kupang.

"Until now, the number of victims of the burning ship has become 14 people, and seven people died have been taken to Kupang City," said Sudayana in Kupang, NTT, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 25 in the morning.

He added that up to now, the total number of victims who were successfully evacuated reached 114 of the 240 passengers. Of these, seven people died and four people were burned.

While the rest are currently still in Naikliu village, Kupang Regency, which is the location or place where they were first evacuated.

"But currently a number of residents are still there because they are still traumatized by what happened to them this afternoon," he said.

He said the search process would continue on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, the burning KM Cantika 77 is still floating in the middle of the sea.

As previously reported, KM Cepat Cantika 77 to Kupang-Alor departed from Tenau Kupang Port on Monday, October 24, at 13.30 WITA.

On the way around Kupang waters, between Kera Island and Timor Island, the ship was reportedly on fire. The report was accompanied by a number of videos sent to a number of Whatsapp groups.

In the video, a number of ship passengers have used buoys in a panic. There are also children and toddlers being carried by their parents.
