Fire Jakarta Islamic Center Padam Mosque

The fire that hit the dome of the Jakarta Islamic Center Mosque, Koja, North Jakarta has been extinguished. The red rooster was successfully tamed after officers struggled to extinguish it for about two hours.

"Currently it has been extinguished," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Satriadi, at the Jakarta Islamic Center, Wednesday, October 19.

This blackout was carried out by 90 personnel with 21 fire engines. Currently, officers are in the process of cooling down.

Satriadi said that currently there have been no reports of the injured victims as a result of the fire. He also admitted that he did not know for sure the losses were estimated to be the result of the fire.

What is clear, this fire caused the Jakarta Islamic Center dome to fall to the ground because it caught fire. "No other room caught fire. Only the dome and its surrounding foundation fell down," he said.

Head of Intelligence and Security at the North Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Slamet Wibisono, explained that the fire started when four workers from PT Agung Sentosa Pratama renovated the roof of the Grand Mosque Islamic Center. At that time the renovation was using triplex materials.

The witnesses melted the membrane (rolled asphalt) to attach the roof material using a fuel. It is suspected that the spark from the fuel device hit the glasbul until the fire broke out," said Slamet in his statement, Wednesday, October 19.

At the time of the incident, the witness tried to extinguish the fire with a light fire extinguisher (apar). However, the fire is getting bigger.

"The witness tried to extinguish the fire using fire but the fire grew bigger and finally the overall Islamic Mosque was burned," he said.

After the incident, the witness immediately contacted the firefighters, for further action.
