Triller, Short Video Maker App Launches Metaverse Platform
JAKARTA - Triller, a short video platform similar to TikTok announced the launch of its newest Metaverse platform called Metaverz, on Monday, October 17.
Triller Inc. said that in Metaverz later, users can gather virtually to watch live music or sporting events.
"We carefully curate all of our events and experiences so that people understand what they're doing," said Christopher Taurosa, head of Metaverz.
"It's not like you're walking around aimlessly… you can get involved in an event," Taurosa further added.
Reports also say that the first event taking place at Metaverz on October 22 will feature DJ Sam Feldt, an electronic device from the Netherlands, appearing as an avatar.
The virtual show is one of 2,000 events Triller and its subsidiaries have planned to host next year. Some of these events will be held in the real world as well as Metaverz.
Apparently, Triller doesn't want to be outdone by other big tech companies like Meta Platform Inc. which has already launched its Metaverse platform, Horizon Worlds.
Meta has spent billions of dollars creating an immersive digital environment where everyone can get together and play games in it.
The company says Metaverz can be accessed through any device connected to the internet, via a browser.

Not only that, Triller admitted that they had collaborated with Epic to make a game in his Metaverz. Players can earn digital currency, which is known as Illr Bucks.
The currency can then be used to buy virtual outfits, customize their avatars, or buy tickets to events hosted by Triller or other event creators.
In addition, the Triller app is an app for creating and sharing short videos similar to TikTok, which was launched in 2019.
Although the number of users is still far below TikTok, in the context of the Metaverse, it seems that Triller is more daring to launch it than ByteDance's application.
