How So That Rich People Can No LONGer Enjoy Subsidized Fuel?
JAKARTA - Member of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) Saleh Abdurrahman admitted that fuel subsidies can still be enjoyed by all people. In fact, Subsidized fuel should be intended for the underprivileged.
Salehpun said that coordination was needed with Korlantas, Regional Government, BPH Migas, Pertamina, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to collect data on people who could not afford subsidized fuel recipients.
"Those who feel they are not entitled or don't need it, don't register. Say the vehicle is 1,400 cc, if they feel they can afford it, they don't need to register," Saleh said in a discussion, Sunday, October 16.
Meanwhile, VP Sales Support Petamina Zibali Hisbul Still said 80 percent of subsidy funds were enjoyed by the wealthy.
"In order to realize the right subsidy, Pertamina has started to register Solar and Pertalite users since July 1, 2022. Followed by recording Solar and Pertalite transactions since September 1, 2022," said Zibali.
That way, he continued, subsidies can be more targeted and the budget can be diverted to develop the quality of education, health, and infrastructure development. Which provides direct benefits to the community.
