Not Mahmoud Charr, This Is Tyson Fury's Opponent To Defend His WBC Title On December 3
JAKARTA - WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will defend his world title against control Chisora. Both are scheduled to clash at Cardiff on the nearest December 3rd.
Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, confirmed the fight. This will be a trilogy fight between the two boxers after they had previously met in 2011 and 2014.
"It lasted three or four weeks and we are struggling to get an opponent. Now we have an opponent with the highest rank and that isprivate Chisora on December 3", Warren told iFL TV reported by Ring News24.
Initially, Fury also wanted to unify the championship belt against Oleksandr Usyk who beat Anthony Joshua twice. However, Usyk was not prepared to fight until early next year after Joshua's victory last August.
To that end, Fury, who is 34, surprisingly challenged Joshua to a ring in a duel titled 'The Battle of Britain'. However, the protracted negotiation process made Fury cancel the duel.
"We're just trying to find an opponent and it's very difficult. The point is that Tyson [Fury] will fight once a year and we always hope the fight in December is against Usyk, but Usyk won't," Warren said.
Fury is currently four years younger than Chisora, who previously claimed to have retired from boxing after winning over Kubrat Pulev on July 9 at the O2 Arena, London, England.
In their first meeting in 2011, Fury, who was recorded as 23 at the time, came out as the winner in a unanimous vote. He then won in their second meeting after Chisora gave up at the end of the 10th round.
