Longsor Threat On Mount Ranai, Riau Islands BPBD Calls Disaster Signs Seen
KEPRI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said that heavy rain was followed by strong winds which recently had the potential to cause landslides in the Mount Ranai area, Natuna, Riau Islands Province (Kepri).
The Head of BPBD for Natuna Regency, Raja Darmika said, from the results of BPBD monitoring, there had been a small landslide that continued to lengthen on the slopes of the Timur and Northeast of Mount Ranai.
"We are observing the longer the area," said Head of BPBD Natuna Regency, Raja Darmika when contacted in Natuna, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 10.
Therefore, Darmika reminded that it is necessary to be vigilant, especially for residents who are active on mountain slopes and should avoid the increasingly visible path of potential landslides.
"If you look around Ranai land up or Ranai land into Baruk Bay part of the slope," he said.
He also could not confirm how big the impact of the potential for the landslide would be, but the movement or signs of landslides were already visible.
"Allegedly due to high rainfall, it is suspected that there has been a change in the rock structure and it is time," he said.
In addition, Darmika also reminded of the potential for flooding in Ranai Kota, especially the Sihotang, Bandarsyah, Air Lebay roads and the Air Lakon area.
"Be aware of puddles, which we monitor the potential for flooding there are dozens of points, but what often happens and yesterday occurred in Sihotang, Bandarsyah, the area of the old religious court office, Air Lebay and Air Lakon," he said.
