Ahead of the G20 Summit, PLN All Out Prepares Reliability of Electricity Supply: The relocation of the Grati PLTG to Bali will be completed by the end of this month
JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) is targeting the relocation of the Grati 1x100 megawatt (MW) Gas Power Plant (PLTG) to Pesanggaran, Bali to be completed by the end of October 2022. This relocation project will strengthen the reliability of the electricity supply in Bali which is hosting the High-Level Conference (Summit) G20.
Secretary of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (KBUMN) Susyanto said that he had got a big picture of PLN's readiness to support the G20 event. Especially in preparing a sufficient power supply and complete infrastructure for electric vehicles during the Summit.
"PLN's readiness to support the reliability of electricity supply and SPKLU is already on track because the entire event will use electric cars and buses. PLN's support is really all out and going well", said Susyanto in an official statement, Friday, October 7.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo conveyed PLN's readiness to carry out the Government's trust in securing electricity supply during the G20 Summit. He also visited the site directly to ensure that the relocation of the power plant from Grati to Bali to increase the supply of electricity could be completed on time.
"PLN has been mandated to illuminate the archipelago and also support the world-level agenda event, namely the G20 Summit on the Island of the Gods. We will oversee this event directly and we make sure it can be completed according to what has been planned", said Darmawan.

He explained that during the G20 Summit, it is estimated that there will be an increase in electricity demand in Bali by more than 25 percent, from 770 MW to 980 MW. According to PLN records, the highest load in Bali is at 846 MW as of September 2022.
“With the relocation of the Grati PLTG to Pesanggaran, the current capacity of PLN for the Bali Sub-System is at 1,422 MW. This means that we still have 442 MW of the estimated maximum load for the G20 Summit. Currently, I check that the preparation has reached 99.46 percent", he added.
Darmawan added, in addition to relocating power plants, PLN also ensures the reliability of transmission and distribution. Namely by strengthening transmission and substations, rejuvenating assessment equipment, and improving protection.
"We carry out in detail various action programs to ensure the reliability of electricity supply in Bali during the G20 Summit. We also designed a security classification for several special venues such as airports, hotels, tourist areas, to hospitals", he added.
For standby for the implementation of the G20, PLN has prepared 1,079 personnel with 3 standby posts. 25 personnel are assigned to generation, 420 standby personnel for transmission, 612 standby personnel for distribution, and 22 standby personnel for Icon Plus.
"The success of the implementation of the G20 Indonesia will be proof of the reliability of PLN's electricity in supporting world-standard activities. Therefore, PLN will ensure thorough preparations, especially from the generation side to transmission, to the event venue", concluded Darmawan.
