BI Governor: Indonesia Now The Main Player Of The Global Sharia Economy
JAKARTA - Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo revealed that the development of the national Islamic economy and finance continues to show positive results. According to him, this cannot be separated from Indonesia's potential as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world.
"Indonesia is currently the main player in the global Islamic economy and finance," he said at the opening of the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2022 on Thursday, October 6.
Perry said that Indonesia's contribution to the world economy is quite large, especially in the sector that prioritizes Islamic principles.
Indonesia is ranked fourth out of all global Islamic economics and finance. The second place is in terms of the halal food and beverage industry, as well as third place in terms of Muslim fashion. This all shows that if we are in congregation, we are united, God willing, we will be blessed together," he said.
Furthermore, the BI boss also stated that Islamic economic principles were in line with the government's efforts to encourage and accelerate the national economy.
"The Islamic economy and finance play a strong role in supporting faster and stronger economic recovery, as well as achieving our vision to become the center of the global Islamic economy," he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2022 is an annual routine agenda organized by Bank Indonesia with the aim of supporting inclusive and sustainable growth through digitalization acceleration.
This year's activity is the ninth time it has been implemented and is scheduled to take place on 5-9 October.
